Entertaining Angels: Nomadic Center Ministry
The most wonderful potluck you've ever seen, with people you don't know, and afterwards provide a clean, warm, safe place to sleep." That's how we would describe the newest ministry of Crosspoint Church, a partnership with Redwood Gospel Mission called the Nomadic Shelter Ministry. This ministry serves to house up to 36 homeless people overnight, in churches throughout Sonoma County for seven months a year, October to April.
We will be hosting the first Wednesday of every one of these 7 months: next is January 3.
Guests - homeless people -vetted by trained staff at RGM - will be brought to the church in vans. Our part will be to provide a meal, which we may choose to also partake of. This is an opportunity to share the life of Christ with the homeless, a sharing of food, conversation, and simple kindness. One of us may share a brief message of the work of Christ in our life, and hope in the Lord. Then our guests will lie down for a peaceful night's rest after what for many is an unbelievably hectic day.
David Yetter from Converge PacWest visited us the last Sunday in August and as part of the message shared a story about a church serving meals to the poor in Bakersfield. A little boy related to those from the church that he told his mother he wanted to go to the meal with "the good church." The people from the church asked, "what's the "good church?" The little boy said they were the good church because "You serve the food, and then you sit down next to us and eat it with us. Everyone else who comes down here, they serve, they clean up, then they leave. You're the good church. You sit down with us. You love us. Thank you." I don't know about anyone else, but I was challenged and excited when David shared that story, because this is the kind of thing we can all do to share the love of the Lord with our neighbors in need.
The opportunity for us is to prepare and serve the meal, hang out with our guests, briefly share from the Word, and let the Lord work as we make ourselves available. This might be a good activity for small groups or people with a common interest in ethnic foods, as one example. Our church has agreed to host the first Wednesday night of each month for seven months beginning October 4 and ending April 4. Food should be ready to serve by 6:00 each evening. You will not be responsible for staying the night, or cleaning up the next morning.
If you can bring food and/or help to serve it, sign up at the Welcome Center.

On Mission Every Day...
Crosspoint is affiliated with the Converge family of churches.
Converge is a movement of churches working together to start and strengthen more churches. Its mission is to multiply transformational churches, doing so by using these key ministry strategies: grow spiritually, plant churches, mobilize churches, develop leaders, show compassion, reach nations, and live generously. These core ministries work together to resource churches and movements of churches—to see lives and communities changed by the power of the gospel.
Christ, His cross, and the gospel are central to all that Converge does.

Go into all the World
Thanks for sharing in the heart of God's love for our world.
Our mission is to reach the community and the nations. Visionary and prayerful founders envisioned a church that would make the world one in the bonds of love. We now carry that mission forward into our neighborhoods and throughout the globe.
Then Jesus came to them and said,“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20
We work with our partners to provide food for the hungry, clothes for the naked, education for the illiterate, shelter for the discarded, and the love and hope of Christ to all.
At Crosspoint we are committed to partnering with local ministries, both with financial support and through volunteering and providing for these ministries in other ways. Click on the links below to find out about the local partners that Crosspoint supports.
Central to the mission strategy of Crosspoint is to see the gospel taken to "all nations." To that end, Crosspoint supports the ministries of various missionaries and entities all over the world. Find out more about these by clicking the links below.
