Crosspoint History

The story of Crosspoint begins in the living room of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fergusen in Santa Rosa on June 4, 1969. A group of believers had felt called by God to start a church in the Santa Rosa area, and it was on this warm June evening that an official church would be started, requesting affiliation with the Northern California Baptist Conference. The name "Bethel Baptist Church" (Bethel meaning "house of God") was selected, and regular services began on Sunday, June 22, 1969, under Rev. Rodger Goodman.

After about five years of meeting in various locations around Santa Rosa, the church agreed to purchase property on the corner of Guerneville Road and Ridley Avenue. The present church building was erected in 1979, with many members joyfully helping in the actual construction on weekends, as well as sacrificing financially for its construction.

God continues to work in remarkable ways through this church, which has always been known for its commitment to biblical teaching, prayer, generosity, and evangelism. In 2012 we felt led to change our name to Crosspoint Community Church. This name more accurately reflects who we are--while maintaining the cross of Jesus Christ as central to everything that goes on here. Throughout our history we see God's faithfulness, and we continue to build on that foundation, looking with a spirit of expectancy for what God has planned next for us at Crosspoint.
